Year Round Lure Of The Lake

The deciding factor in moving to this neighborhood was the nearby lake. My wife and I enjoy paddling canoes and fishing. Its a perfect lake for that. I love spending time outdoors and am always keeping my eyes open for related fun. Through the winter, I watch people ice fish on the lake as I ski by. The thought of ice fishing interests me a lot. I’ve even made some weak attempts.  A jigging rod and a pair of tip-ups have been waiting patiently in a bucket, in a corner of the garage. Continue reading

I Went In For Arrows, I Came Out With An Archery Shop.

It was a day like any other.  I took a few minutes during lunch to peruse Craigslist and view the latest treasures people were hawking.  I spotted an ad for used arrows.  Now I have more arrows than I need, but I know some friends who needed to fill some gaps in their dozens, so I dialed up the number and made an appointment.  Turns out the arrows were amongst the foreclosed remains of an archery business.  Continue reading

As I was thinking about what else I need to inform my brother (He’s going bowhunting for the first time) about before our first hunt Saturday, I was struggling to put my routine into words. I have a scent-reducing routine before I go hunting, but it’s so second nature to me that I have a hard time explaining it all. Continue reading

Learning, And Most Importantly Obeying, My Physical Limits

I wrote last time about learning the limits of my time.  I need to focus on the things I REALLY want to do and try to excel at them.  However, I also need to keep my physical limits in mind when pursuing the activities I love. Continue reading
